Support for LGBTQ+ Survivors
Juno is committed to inclusive, respectful support, ensuring that all suvrivors can access safe, trauma-informed support without fear of discrimination or exclusion.
We recognise that LGBTQ+ survivors may face additional barriers to seeking help, including stigma, isolation, fear of being “outed”, lack of recognition of abuse within same-sex relationships, and previous negative experiences with services. These factors can increase risk and delay disclosure.
Juno welcomes and provides support to women, children and young people, and works in close partnership with Equation, who provide support for Men and offer a specialist LGBTQ+ domestic abuse service. Through this partnership, we can offer informed signposting to specialist LGBTQ+ support, ensuring survivors receive the best service to meet their needs and individual circumstances.
Our approach is survivor-led and strengths-based, focusing on safety planning, emotional support, and practical advocacy, while respecting each individual’s identity, experiences, and choices. We are committed to working collaboratively with partner agencies and adapting our practice in line with evolving guidance to ensure our services remain inclusive, safe, and responsive.

In the last year, Juno has supported women from a wide range of sexual orientations who have experienced domestic abuse. This reflects our commitment to inclusive, non-judgemental practice and to ensuring that women feel safe to disclose and access support, regardless of how they identify.
Local & National Services
They support LGBTQ+ people aged 16 and over living in Nottingham city, and over 18 in Nottinghamshire county who are affected by domestic abuse. They also support men aged 16 years and over, living in Nottingham city and 18 years and over living in Nottinghamshire county.
Galop is the UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity. They work with LGBT+ survivors of abuse and violence.
