Support for deaf and hearing-impaired children

Childline has a deafzone and videos in BSL (British Sign Language) about lots of different issues like bullying, family problems, emotional and physical abuse and how to stay safe online. View them on their website.

Getting Help for Deaf & Hearing Impaired

We support deaf and hearing impaired women and children who have been affected by any form of domestic abuse. This support can be face to face, be via email or via SMS/Text message – whatever works best for you.

We can provide a BSL interpreter.

We have teams working with women and children across Nottingham city, Ashfield, Broxtowe, Gedling, and Rushcliffe.

24 Hour Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence helpline

Our Helpline can provide support and referrals into our services and other services across Nottinghamshire. Deaf and hearing-impaired women can access the Helpline by

  • Text Relay/NGT: 18001 0808 800 0340 24 hours a day
  • Email: [email protected] daily, 9am – 9pm

Please note, we may not be able to respond to emails straight away, but will try to reply within 24 hours. Deaf-intely Women also provide support to Women who have experienced abuse.

In an emergency

If you are deaf and need to call 999, you can do this by SMS or text. Information and a BSL video explaining how to use this service can be found here.
