Getting Help for
Deaf & Hearing Impaired

We support deaf and hearing impaired women and children who have been affected by any form of domestic abuse. This support can be face to face, be via email or via SMS/Text message – whatever works best for you.

We can provide a BSL interpreter.

We have teams working with women and children across Nottingham city, Ashfield, Broxtowe, Gedling, and Rushcliffe.

24 Hour Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence helpline

Our Helpline can provide support and referrals into our services and other services across Nottinghamshire. Deaf and hearing-impaired women can access the Helpline by

  • Text Relay/NGT: 18001 0808 800 0340 24 hours a day
  • Email: [email protected] daily, 9am – 9pm

Please note, we may not be able to respond to emails straight away, but will try to reply within 24 hours. 

In an emergency

If you are deaf and need to call 999, you can do this by SMS or text. Information and a BSL video explaining how to use this service can be found here.

Other Support Available

Deaf-initely Women is a charity service that supports Deaf, hard of hearing, and Deafblind women living in Nottingham/shire and Derby/shire. For more information about the services they provide click here.
